From the Editor
Welcome to the new look RM Update. RM Update aims to inform readers from a wide variety of professional backgrounds with an interest in the sustainable management of resources relating to the agriculture, horticulture and forestry sectors. To capture this, we have adopted the phrase Whakamàhatia to hiainu, which refers to quenching of thirst (for knowledge).
Media attention and recent decisions on Project Aqua have sharpened the focus on the water debate. This issue of RM Update illustrates the breadth of initiatives that are occurring not only in providing tools for policy on water allocation and quality, but also some of the initiatives that are being undertaken by communities. The articles highlight the need for an integrated approach to water management in New Zealand, from central government to local government and communities. I am sure you will find this issue topical.
