Women’s Farm Discussion Groups Get Green Light

The Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF) has approved an application to set up a network of farm discussion groups for women involved in running sheep and beef farms. The funding will enable seven groups to be set up around the country (in Taihape, Dannevirke, Masterton, Timaru, Blenheim and Gore). Over 170 women have registered their interest in belonging to a group and organisers are keen to have the first meetings organised within the next month.

Each group will be able to identify their own needs and access trainers and facilitators within their own communities or through the national network. As well as being able to attend regular meetings, the women will also have the opportunity to take part in extension packages using their own farms as the focus.
