Energy Predictions
The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) has published the papers from its workshop held last month in preparation for the next publication of its three-yearly NZ Energy Outlook.
The papers identify the assumptions (costs and availability of various fuels, energy policies, technological developments, consumer preferences and performance of the economy) along with the scenario models which the Ministry is using to make its long-term projections of future NZ energy supply, demand, prices and GHG emissions.
The papers are:
- "Overview of Approach and Basic Economic Assumptions": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/overview/index.html
- "Gas and Coal Price Assumptions and Scenarios": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/gas-coal/index.html
- "Oil Price Assumptions and Scenarios": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/oil-prices/index.html
- "Electricity Generation Costs": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/elec-gen-costs/index.html
- "Emerging Supply-Side Energy Technologies": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/supply-side-technologies/index.html
- "Vehicle Fleet Emissions Model - Translation of Fleet Composition Profiles into "Environmental Effects": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/vehicle-fleet/index.html
- "Residential, Commercial, and Other Industrial Demand": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/residential-oic-demand/index.html
- "Heavy Industry Energy Demand": http://www.med.govt.nz/ers/en_stats/projections/events/20051117/heavy-industrial-demand/index.html
MED will use feedback from the workshop to form the final document, which is to be published early next year.
