Applications are now invited from local government, iwi, industry and community groups for the 2006/07 round of the Ministry for the Environments Sustainable Management Fund (SMF). The SMF provides financial support to projects which produce long-term environmental benefits. To be eligible for funding, projects must demonstrate practical action in one of the following five areas:

- practical action to address climate change.
In addition projects must demonstrate that they will strengthen partnerships between different groups including the community, industry, iwi and/or local government. Projects should also involve support from stakeholders.
