Sustainable Farming Fund - 2nd Round
The second funding round of the Sustainable Farming Fund is now open for applications. Funding in this round is for projects ready to begin in July 2001. The Fund aims to help rural communities use their land-based resources sustainably. It provides a percentage of the costs for projects that bring together communities to address problems, enable access to information, or technology and tools, or to improve the community economic base.
Up to $200,000, per project, per year, is provided. There is no lower limit and smaller projects seeking under $10,000 are included. Water management issues previously funded from other sources will now be eligible for the Sustainable Farming Fund. Projects can be of up to 3 years' duration.
There was an excellent response to the first funding round. More than 350 applications, covering a wide variety of projects, were received. These have now been processed and as the signing of the contracts is completed the successful projects will be announced.
Unsuccessful applicants from the first funding round are invited to re-apply in the second funding round.
