Reforming Food Safety Legislation - Have Your Say
MAF is seeking your comment on its discussion paper 'Options for Legislative Reform of Food Safety in the Dairy Industry'. The paper presents two options for replacing the Dairy Industry Act 1952, and in the process, updating the system of laws applying to the safety of dairy products. The options are:
- a replacement Dairy Products Act based on risk management principles; and
- using the Animal Products Act 1999 for the dairy industry.
MAF intends submitting a proposal, based of one of the options, to the Minister by the end of June 2001.
