Work and Income Regional Plans
Regional employment plans for each of the Department of Work and Income's (DWI) 13 regions have been prepared. The plans summarise the employment approaches each DWI Regional Commissioner intends to pursue to get more beneficiaries into paid work within their region. It is believed that stronger regional focus will favour the creation of more local solutions to local needs.
Local projects planned this year include:
- a One More Worker scheme in Porirua with the Porirua Business Development Society;
- a Residential Motivational Programme run by Ngati Hine using the resources of the Waitangi National Trust; and,
- establishing Moving South Taskforces to create new job opportunities in Otago and Southland.
