Maori Health Strategy - Discussion Paper

'He Korowai Oranga', the draft Maori Health Strategy, was released recently and your feedback is sought. The paper outlines directions the Government will take to reduce inequalities. It discusses plans to develop guidelines to assist District Health Boards to establish partnerships with iwi and other relationships with Maori.

Hui will be now held throughout the country allowing whanau, hapu, iwi, Maori communities, Maori providers, District Health Boards, health and disability organisations, and individuals to contribute to the final strategy.

The times and dates of the hui are as follows:

  • Wellington; Te Aroha Sports Complex, 2 May, 9am-4pm
  • Northland; The Park Lodge on Paihia, 3 May, 9am-4pm
  • Auckland; Waipuna Lodge, 4 May, 9am-4pm
  • Rotorua; Te Ao Marama, 8 May, 9am-4pm
  • Hawke's Bay; Kohupatiki Marae, 10 May, 10am-4.30pm
  • Wanganui; Putiki Marae, 15 May, 9am-4pm
  • Nelson; Whakatu Marae, 17 May, 9am-4pm
  • Invercargill; Murihiku Marae, 24 May, 9am-4pm
  • Christchurch; Rehua Marae, 25 May, 9am-4pm

He Korowai Oranga is due for completion by December 2001 and will be followed by a plan to put its ideas into action.
