1.2 Report Format

The rest of the report is structured as follows:

Part 2 covers the methodology used in the study.

Part 3 is the development of a conceptual framework for this report, including definitions of key concepts and tools for both the research process and analysis

Part 4 focuses on farming in context – on expectations which were understood to be basic to traditional farming and farm culture ways, and on changes made in New Zealand in the 1980s.

Parts 5 and 6 cover the continuing impact of these changes, as experienced by people in the mid-Rangitikei. These sections tell their stories, and concentrate upon the description of issues central to the lives of farm families - their problems, concerns and hopes for the future.

Part 7 analyses the research information, and includes a four level analysis methodology to obtain further insights.

Part 8 draws conclusions from the analysis and addresses questions of sustainability.

Part 9 contains the report recommendations.
