Social forecasting recommendation
To further develop social forecasting techniques as follows:
- develop indicators for rural social needs and activities
- install a pilot monitoring system in an area such as the mid-Rangitikei
- develop social impact assessment and social forecasting, including forecasting models
Research topics recommendation
Further studies of the following rural social issues are needed:
- the present logic of farming and changes in farming culture
- farmers understanding and compliance with the requirements of RMA, OSH and ACC
- changing family dynamics in family farming
- exploration of family farm succession practices and protocols
- financing of farms - options, flexibility, changing rules
- family violence and incest in rural areas its frequency and precipitators
- the human development and educational impact of boarding school at age 12-13
Farming SWOT analysis recommendation
Regular use of SWOT analyses should be made in order to monitor the position of farming and rural communities. This will clarify this situation for farmers, and enable them to adjust various aspects of their business in accordance with findings.
