SYNOPSIS OF SOCIAL RESEARCH PROJECTS

UNDERTAKEN TO SUPPORT THREE

PROGRAMMES OF THE

MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE

POLICY ADVICE AND FACILITATION ON:-

  • SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
  • RURAL DEVELOPMENT
  • RURAL SERVICES

The following summaries of research papers were collected together initially at the request of MAF's South Regional Policy Manager, to inform policy agents of the considerable body of research that had been undertaken or sponsored by the Ministry in support of our rural resources and rural affairs programmes.

Considerable interest was expressed by academics and Federated Farmers in our work on rural women, so that this area is explored in greater depth than other research areas.

Following requests from other interested parties it was decided to release the summary papers more widely. There is a full list of research papers at the back of the document.

The summaries of these papers are merely an introduction to the full reports, and I take no responsibility for omissions or inadequate coverage of the material.
