4.11 ATTITUDES TO COLLECTION FEES

The majority of respondents to the postal survey (64 percent) consider that it is unacceptable for firms to charge industry organisations to collect levies.

  • Ten percent of those who found collection fees acceptable noted that fees must reflect the costs of collection.

There was little difference in the level of acceptance of collection fees between industry groups. Growers from the vegetable and arable industries which have paid levy collection fees for many years were no more accepting of them than growers from industries that do not currently pay fees.
