3. Field Visits
In order to obtain first-hand, information, views and experience, I undertook two field
visits:

|
|
|
|
- examination of sites of RCD activity in the Flinders Range National Park, South
Australia and at Pyalong in Victoria;
|
|
|
|
|
- discussions with officials and scientists from the Bureau of Rural Resources, Department
of Primary Industries and Energy, CSIRO, and Commonwealth Department of Health and Family
Services;
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- examination of rabbit control on farms in the McKenzie Basin, Central Otago, the
Maniatoto Plain and North Canterbury
|
|
|
|
|
- examination of habitats of endangered and threatened species and discussions with
Department of Conservation staff on predators and their control;
|
|
|
|
|
- discussions with representatives of the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust.
