3.3- Possum Behaviour and Pathogen Transmission
3.3.1
| Objective Title:Social behaviour and pathogen transmission in possums Research Leader: Dr C O'Connor Institution:University of Waikato/AgResearch Social Behaviour |
Aim:To identify social interactions that may influence the pattern and rate of transmission of Leptospira interrogans balcanica between possums in a captive population, in order to facilitate the development of biological control strategies associated with the use of pathogens and vectors by:
- the likely modes of transmission by measuring relative frequencies of behavioural interactions and transmission between mixed and same sex pairs of animals; and
- the effect of possum population density of balcanica transmission.
