Farm Monitoring Reports
MAF’s farm monitoring programme models the production and financial status of farms, orchards and vineyards throughout New Zealand. These publications contain:
- models of major farm, orchard and vineyard types;
- analysis of the relationship between financial results and the sustainability, productivity and adaptability of the different sectors;
- discussion about issues facing the sectors and how the sectors are collectively and individually dealing with these issues.

In 2009 MAF reviewed the farm monitoring publications. As a result MAF will now produce a suite of three products for both the horticulture and arable, and pastoral monitoring programmes.
- Data release – model data in downloadable excel tables and key points in HTML format published to MAF’s website.
- Dairy and deer model data releases have been published for all regions in NZ at the link above
- Horticulture and arable model data releases have been published at the link above
- Sheep and beef model data releases are due out in mid September 2009
- Model chapter release – model data and accompanying commentary as a printable PDF format published on MAF’s website.
Commentary-only chapters will also be available in this format. These chapters will no longer be published in the monitoring reports.- Dairy and deer model chapter releases have been published for all regions in NZ at the link above
- Horticulture and arable model chapter releases have been published at the link above
- Sheep and beef model chapter release are due out in mid October 2009
- The Pastoral report and Horticulture and Arable report containing a sector overview and information on sector level issues, national models (where available) and results of research undertaken using farm monitoring data will be published on MAF’s website later in the year.
