Treatment of Harvested Wood Products

  1. "A pre-1990 established forest sequesters carbon during the commitment period but is not eligible for carbon credits. Why does this forest attract a liability at harvest during the commitment period when carbon is not emitted? - it is converted to timber."
  2. "If the timber used remains largely as a wood product, effectively retaining its carbon sink abilities, should this not be considered in accounting/trading procedures? In that regard, it is unlikely that much of the carbon stored in New Zealand trees will be released after harvest."
  3. "How will exported biomass be treated where carbon is not re-emitted?"
