e. Pesticide registration
The Pesticides Board and Animal Remedies Board are responsible for assessing and regulating environmental and other effects of pesticides and animal remedies, respectively, during the registration process. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries provides technical and administrative support to the two boards. It is not possible to distinguish activities which relate separately to soil, water and air quality, or to native flora and fauna. Of a budget of $1.8 million in 1994/95, registration and annual fees accounted for approximately $1.55 million, or 86%.
