The Know the Enemy campaign is an initiative of Biosecurity New Zealand, a division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the threats of exotic pests and diseases to New Zealand and encourage people to play a part in protecting New Zealand’s biosecurity.
Although New Zealand has some of the toughest border controls in the world, we still have to be vigilant. Biosecurity New Zealand wants every New Zealander to play a part such as:
- keeping watch for unusual pests and diseases during everyday activities - ensuring that people declare all items that could harbour unwanted pests and diseases when they are returning home from travelling - complying with biosecurity notices and activities in areas where a biosecurity threat has been found.
