We write for the Department’s approval for other than a 31 March balance date.

Our entity receives funding from MAF Sustainable Farming Fund. Funding is received for the year to June.

A 31 March balance date is not appropriate for our group as it falls within the mid period of our funding year. The [30 June] balance date would be the appropriate balance date for our group as the funding received is on an annual basis to [30 June]. A 31 March balance date would reflect that our group would be receiving funding over two funding periods.

We therefore request the Department’s approval to adopt balance date as 30 November.

We now await your approval in due course.
